A former smuggling town, with a picturesque seafront overlooking a pebble beach with views across the Channel. A must for history buffs, walkers, hikers, cyclist with many interesting sites within walkable distance, The local area boasts three castles which are English Heritage owned, including Deal Castle situated with a five minute walk.
Deal is proud of it's awarding winning high street, with many independent shops to leisurely browse. Once you have finished shopping, exploring, or after a relaxing day at the beach, there are many fabuous eatery's to cater for all taste from traditional fish and chips to a Michelin starred restaurant, all within walking distance from Sea Salt Cottage. If eating at home is more you're thing, look out for the fresh fish, "shop" on the beach, catch of the day directly from the sea!
A 12 mile cycle path runs from the heart of Deal all the way to St Margaret's Bay along a beautiful coastline and into rugged countryside that is protected by National Trust. There are cycle routes along the to coastline to Dover and Sandwich, and many cycle routes in the immediate area. It's also a lovely area for a drive in the Kentish countryside. Of course, it goes without saying walking is endless and plentiful.
The famous Royal St Georges golf course located close to the centre of Deal, host to the 2021 "The Open", the area is drenched in golf clubs to suit all abilities.
Getting here is easy, with superb transport links. Deal BR station which is 5-10 minutes walk away from Sea Salt Cottage, with trains to Ramsgate, Ashford and the high-speed rail links to London. It's also a lovely area for a drive in the Kentish countryside.
